NW Retail Recyclers wants to work with your company for six months to show you what we can do.

In that six month period we will:

Cut your fixture disposal bill by a minimum of 25% (we would like to say 50%, but we have to start someplace). And
Save you space and labor costs, by making pickups at each location a minimum of once a month, and more when necessary.

NW Retail Recyclers assists mid to large-size retailers lessen their ecological impact by recycling, rather than throwing out, used store fixtures and displays. The majority of used store fixtures and displays end up in our landfills, putting an unnecessary strain on our environment and our budgets. NW Retail Recyclers offers a sustainable solution to this on-going problem that will save you money, time, and labor.

In the past, Portland Store Fixtures has been able to randomly assist many local and corporate stores in the disposal of numerous fixtures at little or no cost to the customers. By doing this Portland Store Fixtures is able to keep, conservatively, 100 tons of store fixtures and displays out of the landfill every year, but we know that is only a small percentage of what is really being thrown away. And now with so many companies downsizing and 'going green', it is time to create a division of Portland Store Fixtures that will keep 3 to 5 times that amount out of our landfills. NW Retail Recyclers was developed for the purpose of working with mid and large size retailers to assist in their goals of becoming more sustainable and reducing their ecological impact.

  • Reuse – many corporate displays can be de-branded and reused

  • Re-purpose – a display table can be used as a work table

  • Recycle – broken down into recyclable parts & disposed of properly

This is how we recycle fixtures and why we cannot always do it for free. We are able to do it for less than if we pick it up and hauled it to our landfill, and all at a lower cost to the environment.
First, we come to your location, pick up your unwanted fixtures or displays. Then we take them back to our warehouse so we can separate out all the different materials. If we cannot reuse it, we recycle the parts in the following ways:

  • Metal is the only material that we get money back for. It's not a lot but it does help defray the cost of the other materials that we have to pay to dispose of.

  • Wood gets burned and used for fuel.

  • Plastic gets shipped back to China, melted down and made into something else.

  • Glass is our problem child that we end up throwing in our dumpster. We are researching alternatives to the dumpster.


We will regularly remove fixtures from your stores on a scheduled or on-call basis. After removal, NW Retail Recyclers will reuse, re-purpose, or recycle them. We are able to keep 97% of your used fixtures and displays out of our landfills.

Reuse

Just because it fits into the dumpster does not mean it belongs there.  Many generic corporate fixtures and displays can be utilized after de-branding, by independent stores to save on start-up cost.

 

 

 

Re-Purpose

Originally, a fixture may have been designed as a display table in one store, and could be a great work table in a different store.

 

 

 

 

 

Recycle

It may be what we refer to as a big store item, meaning that it is too big or specialized to be used in a smaller store and has to be broken down separated and properly recycled.  Properly recycle means that an item is separated into wood, metal, plastic, paper or other and taken to a place that recycles that material, often at a charge to our company.

 

Repeat

Recycling is not something that is done once or twice; it needs to be a Standard Operating Procedure.  For this to happen, we need to create a systematic, cost-effective way to assist you in the disposal of extra fixtures.
